Special election in the 81st district today
By Joel McDonald • Jan 6th, 2009 • Category: Blog, Lead Story
Today, voters in the 81st house district of Virginia vote in a special election to fill the seat vacated by Delegate Terri Suite, who resigned to become a lobbyist at a law firm.
Democrat John LaCombe is running against Republican Barry Knight in this election. LaCombe has shown his willingness to reach out to all people in his district and make himself available for public comment, interviews, speaking engagements, local bloggers, and more. His basic message is that he will represent the people of the 81st as they should be represented, by reaching out to the people and taking their issues with him to Richmond.
John built his campaign from the ground up, reaching out to local Democrats for the nomination. Since then, he has been endorsed by all three Democratic candidates for governor.
This is a special election and its all about turnout! If you know anyone within the 81st district, make sure to contact them and ask them to vote for John LaCombe. John has worked hard for us over the past several weeks in this campaign, and he needs us today. Help win this election by getting people you know in the 81st to vote – vote early and VOTE LACOMBE!
Remember whats on the line:
- A hundred million dollars of potential school funding cuts – John says no!! He will fight for our kids futures!
- Short sighted energy solutions like drilling off our coast – John says no!! He will fight for long term renewable energy solutions!
- Politics as usual, lobbyist and special interest focused legislators in Richmond – John says no!! John’s door will always be open to constituents over lobbyists and he will work to change the corrupt culture in Richmond.
