Those who went through their representatives in the House and Senate got tickets, and had a much more difficult time getting to where they were invited to be, while those who took advantage of the Mall areas didn't seem to have as much trouble. I wouldn't jump the shark and say that this was calculated, but it was a failure of the joint committee and the city of Washington D.C. In a way, I have to agree with you. The people they wanted to have access had all the access they needed, but regular people who fueled Obama's campaign got mismanaged into blue tickets that never got them near the door.
