Rep. Glenn Nye’s VBDC breakfast presentation cancelled

Early this morning members of the Virginia Beach Democratic Committee received an e-mail informing them that Rep. Glenn Nye’s presentation, scheduled to occur at the upcoming committee breakfast, had been cancelled due to concerns that many were billing his appearance as a “Health Care Town Hall” instead of a presentation on his activities over the past eight months as well as the future that our country faces and the work he has yet to do.
This misunderstanding led to some organizing among local “tea baggers” who were looking to crash the breakfast by protesting health reform and causing general unrest as we’ve seen at so many “Town Hall” meetings across the nation. In response, Democratic activists throughout the city began to organize as well in order to ensure the breakfast crashers wouldn’t outnumber the Democrats themselves as their own breakfast.
As was mentioned in the e-mail, the venue for the breakfast, Mom’s Kitchen, would not have been able to accomodate the possible flood of people from both sides; which caused the VBDC to cancel Nye’s presentation.
