“I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who have been honored by this prize.”
By Joel McDonald • Oct 9th, 2009 • Category: Blog, Lead StoryObviously shocked and humbled at having been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, President Barack Obama spoke saying that he did not feel that he deserved to be in “company of so many of the transformative figures who have been honored by this prize,” and that he viewed the award as a call to action.
Many on both the right and the left have expressed their doubts about the validity of the prize being award to Obama, citing both his time in office and the many things left to accomplish. I feel that Obama likely had many of these same thoughts once hearing about the award, and that these feelings are present in his comments.
