Get Involved: Declaration of Independence GLBT Demonstration
By Joel McDonald • Oct 15th, 2009 • Category: Blog, Related News
TheĀ Declaration of Independence is coming to the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library for one day only: Thursday, Oct. 22. It is one of only 25 known copies of the Declaration printed on July 4, 1776, and the only one that tours the country.
The Declaration established that all men are created equal, and we need to be out there as the GLBT community to let people know that there are still people in our nation who are not being treated as equal, and ask visitors to the library to contact their elected representatives to ask that they support measures of equality in our federal government.
Please join Virginia Beach Progressives , and other activists for equality, in demonstrating in front of the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library during the public viewing of the document, 2 to 6 p.m on October 22nd. Please RSVP below so we can coordinate information.
