National, State, and Local Politics Affecting Virginia Beach

Mathieson Loses Recount by 16 Votes

Bobby MathiesonWe knew it was a longshot, but a recount held today in the 21st district race between Democrat Bobby Mathieson and Republican Ron Villanueva has come to a close with Mathieson trailing Villanueva by only 16 votes.

I guess I can now take my Mathieson sticker off my car.

You can read the article over at the Virginian-Pilot here.

Now, it’s even more important that we focus energy in the 21st District to support Bill Fleming who is running for the 8th Senate District seat, which also covers the 21st House District. There is no reason why the 21st can’t be a bedrock of support in picking up a Democratic seat in the State Senate.

Thanks for everything Bobby, and best wishes in the future!
