Congratulations to Tommy Smigiel on winning a seat on the Norfolk City Council. Smigiel won with 44% of the vote!
“Tonight, the citizens said they’re tired of the politics as usual and that they believe in a new type of government that is responsive to the citizens’ needs first,” Smigiel said to about 100 supporters at his victory party at Mona Lisa’s, an East Ocean View restaurant. (Virginian-Pilot)
This was an impressive victory. Not only was Tommy Smigiel a first time candidate, but he also was running against an incumbent, Randy Wright, who had been in office since 1992 and had a formidable campaign fund and high ranking political allies.
Great job, Tommy!
