Yesterday, Republicans nominated conservative Scott Rigell to run against Democratic Congressman Glenn Nye.

Why does this matter to progressives?

Well, if you’ve enjoyed the result of Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell and Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli winning in 2009, setting Virginia back at least a decade on important progressive issues like equality, green energy, the environment, and transportation, you’re going to LOVE what Congress will do if candidates like Scott Rigell, who is a friend McDonnell and Cuccinelli, win this November.

We’ve got to fight to keep Congress out of the hands of conservatives like Scott Rigell.

Here in Virginia Beach, the best way we can help keep this from happening is to support Democratic Congressman Glenn Nye in his reelection campaign, and now that we know who Republicans are challenging Nye with, it’s time to get to work.

Show your support for a progressive Congress by joining volunteers in contacting voters on Saturday, June 12 at 10 A.M. They will be knocking doors and phone banking from the campaign office.
