Moving Virginia Beach in a progressive direction requires reaching out to the citizens of the city with information and activism. Virginia Beach Progressives is dedicated to covering, and being involved in, national, state, and local politics affecting Virginia Beach.

Shaping politics through blogging: The rise of new media, especially blogs, centered on politics has had a profound effect on the way people research politicians, issues, and legislation. While an argument can be made that the Internet is saturated with such blogs, the reality is the the more blogs reporting in these areas actually creates a shift in what information is presented when anyone performs an Internet search. Virginia Beach Progressives aims to be one spoke in the wheel of new media covering politics throughout Virginia, focusing on Virginia Beach, helping shape the political atmosphere with the goal of supporting progressive candidates, issues, and legislation.

Getting results through activism: While words can inspire action, words do not achieve results alone. Virginia Beach Progressives is committed to being involved in the community, through grassroots activities, campaigns, and general service to improve our society. Results are achieved through action. Virginia Beach Progressives takes online to offline, and then online again by reporting on the activities and actions taken, and the results achieved.
