Former Governor of Virginia and current Senator Mark Warner will be headlining a rally in support of Congressman Glenn Nye’s election along with another local elected officials.

I live blogged the 2nd Congressional District Debate between Congressman Glenn Nye, and conservative challengers Scott Rigell and Kenny Golden on Thursday, August 19th.

On this issue, I agree with Governor Bob McDonnell. You won’t hear me say that often, but the Governor and our Hampton Roads Congressional delegation have joined together in opposing the closure of JFCOM.

Rigell will fit right in with the obstructionist Republican minority in the House of Representatives. Here’s Rigell on the record as being opposed to the historic Wall Street Reform Bill, signed into law today by President Barack Obama.

Someone asks you a question about the New GI Bill that has sent over a quarter of a million veterans to college, what do you do? Hopefully, you do much better than Republican Scott Rigell.

Here in Virginia Beach, the best way we can help keep conservatives from taking Congress is to support Democratic Congressman Glenn Nye in his reelection campaign, and now that we know who Republicans are challenging Nye with, it’s time to get to work.

I am proud that every one of our Virginia Democrats in the House of Representatives voted for the passage of the amendment to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”. This policy has been a blemish on our nation for over a decade.

This is a big deal nationally, and while I’ll be focusing on our own congressional seat, I’ll also be focusing on our own city council elections.

Earlier this month, the Virginia Beach Democratic Committee approved a new standing committee for Community Service, and Lois Firestone was appointed as Chair. Shortly after, an opportunity was found for the VBDC to reach out and help those in need.
