Here in Virginia Beach, the best way we can help keep conservatives from taking Congress is to support Democratic Congressman Glenn Nye in his reelection campaign, and now that we know who Republicans are challenging Nye with, it’s time to get to work.

I am proud that every one of our Virginia Democrats in the House of Representatives voted for the passage of the amendment to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”. This policy has been a blemish on our nation for over a decade.

All in all, it’s a time to celebrate the success of Health Care Reform in the House. We’re a step closer to making affordable healthcare accessible for Americans.

Republicans are using scripted attacks to bully Democrats on the House floor, sometimes reading word for word from this script while using the proceedures of the House to interrupt and berate freshman members of congress.

In an incredible show of solidarity and “principle”, John Boehner and every member of his party effectively told President Obama, and the American people, that they can take their bipartisanship and shove it.
