If the smoking ban becomes law, Virginia will join 24 states across the nation that prohibit smoking on restaurants. This is a significant victory for Kaine, who has been pushing for smoking bans in order to protect the health of the public.

For the first time in 44 years, the Virginia Electoral College convened to elect Democrats to the office of President and Vice President of the United States. Their vote, a constitutional requirement, is both symbolic in nature as well as the formal declaration of the vote of the people of Virginia.
As reported by the Washington Post, Gov. Tim Kaine has stressed that he will not leave office early to take any post offered by President-Elect Barack Obama.
